Job Description

Are you an English Graduate looking to gain valuable experience in education before pursuing a career in teaching? A welcoming and supportive primary school in Upminster is seeking a dedicated English Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2026. This English Graduate Teaching Assistant role is ideal for a recent graduate who is passionate about literacy, language development, and education. As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, helping them develop their reading, writing, spelling, phonics, and communication skills.

Job Responsibility

  • Delivering literacy interventions to individuals and small groups
  • Supporting pupils with reading, writing, phonics, grammar, and comprehension
  • Helping children develop confidence in speaking and communication
  • Working with pupils across KS1 and KS2
  • Providing classroom support during English and wider curriculum lessons
  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and learning resources
  • Supporting pupils with varying learning needs, including SEN

Requirements

  • Degree in English, English Literature, English Language, Creative Writing, Journalism, or a related subject
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for education and child development
  • Experience working with children is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to commit to a full-time position from September 2026
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
