Job Description:

Polish academic research! Edit scholarly articles to publication-ready standards, ensure clarity, and maintain author voice. The English Editing Department works to ensure that all of MDPI’s manuscripts are published with clarity, consistency, and grammatical accuracy. English Editors support academic research by editing the language of peer-reviewed papers to a publication-ready standard. This is a full-time, in-office, entry-level position based in Singapore. Successful applicants undergo a probation period in which in-house training is provided by an experienced editor, after which there are opportunities to diversify the role and gain expertise in new areas.

Job Responsibility:

Edit scholarly articles submitted to MDPI journals to a publication-ready standard
Apply knowledge of the English language and the context of the manuscript to make the English clear, consistent, and grammatically correct, communicating the author’s message without changing their voice unnecessarily
Ensure manuscripts align with MDPI’s house rules
Meet tight deadlines and hit targets with a high degree of consistency
Take on additional roles, such as training colleagues within and outside of the department and editing corporate material
Cooperate with the Editorial and Production teams in the editorial process

Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in any subject
Expert knowledge of the English language
Experience in editing, translating, or publishing
Excellent time management and organisation skills
High attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and as part of an international team
Right to work in Singapore

Nice to have:

Professional experience in academic research, editing, or publishing
Familiarity with LaTeX
Experience working in an office environment
