Job Description

English Editors support academic research by editing the language of peer-reviewed papers to publication standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Edit scholarly articles spanning a wide array of subject matter submitted to MDPI’s journal to a publication-ready standard
  • Apply knowledge of the English language and the context of the manuscript to make the English clear, consistent, and grammatically correct, communicating the author’s message without changing their voice unnecessarily
  • Ensure manuscripts align with MDPI’s house rules
  • Meet tight deadlines and hit targets with a high degree of consistency
  • Take on additional roles, such as training colleagues within and outside of the department and editing corporate material

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in any subject
  • Expert knowledge of the English language
  • Experience in editing or translating
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work remotely both independently and as part of an international team

Nice to have

  • Professional experience in academic research or editing
  • A master’s, PhD, or equivalent qualification
  • Familiarity with LaTeX
  • Experience working in an office environment
