The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
Job Responsibility:
Performs non-routine and complex inspection assignments
Plans and conducts complete projects
Selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts
Contacts personnel to resolve problems and coordinate work
Reviews, analyzes, and integrates technical work of others
Inspects major units, devices, or equipment
Conducts tests or experiments
Analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance
Reports results
Plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance
Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures
Conducts tests using all types of instruments
Analyzes and evaluates test results
Prepares reports on findings and recommendations
Demonstrates extensive proficiency and ability to train less experienced inspectors
Applies engineering principles in inspecting, testing, and modifying equipment
Assists with the production of prototypes
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
technical training in the applicable area of expertise
required certifications
8 years of related experience and technical training and certification as required across all areas of industry accepted disciplines for the technical support to aerospace systems and equipment
Must be able to support all shifts, weekends, and overtime
Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and platforms
Must be able to work in tight confined space areas
Must be able to work inside and outside
Must be able to walk on uneven terrain
Must be dependable and punctual
Must have clear, concise, and accurate communication skills
Must have ability to work well with office staff and customer representatives
Must possess and maintain a valid CDL with endorsements Florida driver’s license
Must pass a federal background investigation
Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements
proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required
