Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technician VI located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. Astrion has worked extensively with the Missile Propulsion Test Division where it has earned a reputation for on-time delivery of high-quality products tailored to the needs of its clients.
Job Responsibility:
Responsible for contractor safety training, including overall assignment and scheduling of training, quality control, and tracking and reporting performance
Ensures that testing is conducted per SOP’s, that goals and objectives are set, responsibility is assigned, and results are documented
Interfaces with Government customers, and other agency representatives
Participates in projects from the safety stage, provides additional or missing materials, and edits, organizes, and formats content for clarity, flow, and integrity
Disseminates safety policies, purposes, and goals of the organization to subordinates
Develops and analyzes monthly safety reports
Some travel may be required
Requirements:
11 years of applicable experience supporting engineering or testing of hardware in the appropriate area of specialization
or 4 years of applicable vocational/military/technical school and 7 years of applicable experience in the assigned specialty area
At least 10 years of the 11 years of experience must include successful completion of vocational/military/technical school training in practical or industrial arts and a minimum of 8 years of mechanical fabrication and structural/fixture setup supporting engineering or testing of military hardware
Technician will be required to support mechanical operations in and around Test Stand/fixtures
Operate and maintain equipment for test support
Must possess Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training certification to handle liquid rocket engine propellants using Level A protective suits and respiratory protection
Hold or obtain Class “A” CDL
Comprehend various test setups and lead the mechanical responsibilities while following applicable standard operating procedures
Range Safety Officer trained and endorsed
Nice to have:
Operate forklifts from Class VII and below, overhead crane and other similar equipment
Must have experience in applying Operational Procedures, Policies, and SOP's
Excellent leadership & people skills with working knowledge of range safety
