Job Description:

Engineering Teacher (Head of Department) – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing role starting September 2026. The school provides a well‑structured and ambitious learning environment where pupils benefit from clear expectations, strong routines, and purposeful teaching. Leadership supports staff effectively, maintaining a consistent focus on high standards, positive behaviour, and strong pupil engagement. Pupils respond well to a curriculum that prepares them confidently for further study and future pathways, particularly within technical and vocational subjects.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and manage the Engineering department across KS3, KS4, and KS5
  • Teach Engineering full time, delivering high‑quality lessons across all key stages
  • Develop, implement, and review the Engineering curriculum and schemes of work
  • Oversee assessment, progress tracking, and standards within the department
  • Support and mentor staff within the department to maintain high‑quality teaching
  • Ensure safe and effective use of workshops, equipment, and resources
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement
  • Contribute to whole‑school leadership and improvement priorities
  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders to develop Engineering provision
  • Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil welfare

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Strong experience teaching Engineering across KS3 to KS5
  • Previous leadership or departmental responsibility experience is highly desirable
  • Confident managing curriculum, staff, and resources
  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of vocational and academic routes
  • Effective classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication abilities
  • Proactive, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement
  • Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting pupil well‑being
