The Engineering Supervisor will assist the Director of Engineering in the day-to-day operations of the engineering department. This position will primarily be responsible for overseeing the general and preventative maintenance and repairs of guest rooms, meeting spaces, public areas, back of house areas, and equipment. This position will use their continuous working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire, HVAC refrigeration, paint, and safety within a hotel environment to assist the department Engineers to perform their jobs safely and efficiently. Evening availability is required.

Job Responsibility:

  • Adhere to Hyatt Hotels Corporation guidelines and core values
  • Ensure proper execution of work order/systems requests and that items are completed in a timely manner by self and the team
  • Supervise necessary repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules, policies and rules
  • Maintain logs on movement of stock items and tools and monitor distribution
  • Inspects and observes equipment in operation for defects, locates causes of trouble and troubleshoots
  • Ensure that meter readings are taken daily on heat and light and review information to evaluate consumption
  • Ensures Engineers maintain clean, organized, and safe working areas and Engineering shop
  • Assist Director of Engineering in supervising and training all Engineers
  • Ensure all emergency and life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested and certified per Hyatt standards
  • Assists the Director of Engineering with any major projects, including administration of vendor contracts
  • Provide assistance to other team members and departments
  • Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times, while providing personalized service to hotel guests

Requirements:

  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills
  • 2-4 years previous hotel experience as a maintenance department supervisor or progressive maintenance responsibility
  • Previous supervisory experience overseeing employees preferred
  • Working knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, screening, locks, HVAC, boiler operations, and proper tool and chemical use
  • Licensed in a trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.) preferred
  • The ability to lift, pull and push a moderate weight and the ability to stand/walk for prolonged periods of time (up to 8 hours per shift)
