Job Description:

The Telecommunications team powers the Architecture and Design of Aurizon’s cutting-edge Operational Telecoms network, a critical backbone stretching across Central Queensland. This network keeps vital and safety‑critical services running smoothly and supports the heartbeat of train operations. As part of this high-performing team and reporting to the Engineering Leader Telecommunications, you will lead the design and deployment of advanced telecommunications systems that deliver on both Customer and internal needs. This is your chance to help shape essential rail infrastructure and drive innovation across a network relied on every day.

Job Responsibility:

  • Define requirements to meet business and customer needs
  • Design, Draft and Review site and supporting infrastructure documentation
  • Develop migration and commissioning methodologies and strategies
  • Liaise and coordinate works with Construction teams
  • Validate on-site works to maintain accordance with standards
  • Develop and maintain standards and specifications
  • Document changes for future works and maintenance staff

Requirements:

  • Approved tertiary or industry-based qualification in an Engineering or closely related discipline (mandatory)
  • Experience in design, deployment, and support of operational telecoms networks (Preferred)
  • 5+ years' relevant technical industry experience and/or relevant Trade background
  • A current Australian Open Drivers License
  • High level of skill in communication both oral and written
  • Experience in planning, estimating and in exercising initiative in the application of professional practices
  • Knowledge and ability to read and understand electrical drawings, cable line diagrams, engineering schematics, standards and specifications
  • Experience with L2/L3 Data Networks
  • Experience with Optical Fibre and Microwave Radio transmission bearers
  • Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) technology solutions
  • Experience with SDH and PDH communication systems
  • Experience with DC Power Systems
  • Experience with Antenna Support Structures and supporting asset protection systems
