Aplin is proud to partner with a respected and well-established consulting engineering firm in Oakville, Ontario, to recruit an experienced Engineering Manager to lead their growing Mechanical Engineering department. Job Responsibility

  • Provide technical and managerial leadership across the Mechanical group
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers and designers
  • Manage workloads, project assignments, performance reviews, and professional development
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-accountability team culture
  • Provide technical guidance on mechanical system design for a wide range of buildings and infrastructure
  • Review and stamp mechanical drawings, specifications, and reports
  • Ensure all designs meet applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
  • Oversee mechanical project delivery from concept to completion
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure smooth execution
  • Conduct on-site visits, surveys, and condition assessments as required
  • Build strong relationships with clients, municipalities, and partner firms
  • Participate in project meetings, presentations, and proposal development
  • Support business development initiatives and help identify new opportunities
  • Contribute to department planning, budgeting, and quality control initiatives
  • Support long-term succession planning, including future partnership opportunities
  • Help drive innovation, continuous improvement, and best practices within the mechanical group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and P.Eng. designation
  • 7–10+ years of mechanical design experience in building systems (HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection)
  • Prior experience leading teams, projects, or junior staff in a consulting engineering environment
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, and industry best practices
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and client-facing skills
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for site work.
