Our client, a leading organisation within the energy sector, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join their team in Basingstoke. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of complex engineering projects, ensuring that project objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and in line with quality and business requirements.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop and manage the Project Engineering Execution Plan (PEEP) throughout all project phases
  • Lead the engineering execution of projects, ensuring delivery against scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements
  • Coordinate design, technical, and HSEQ reviews
  • Monitor engineering progress, workload forecasting, and project performance
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, ensuring effective mitigation strategies are implemented
  • Manage project changes and evaluate their impact on delivery
  • Oversee engineering interfaces and ensure effective communication between all parties
  • Consolidate project cost estimates and provide regular updates to management and stakeholders
  • Ensure effective close-out of projects, including technical documentation and final reporting
  • Lead and motivate multidisciplinary engineering project teams
  • Collaborate with department heads to define project resource requirements and staffing plans
  • Manage priorities, workloads, and resource allocation to ensure successful project execution
  • Promote collaboration across internal functions and external engineering service providers
  • Support a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing engineering execution within complex project environments
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, including planning, scheduling, forecasting, cost control, risk management, and change management
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple locations
  • Knowledge of project lifecycles, including Feasibility, FEED, Detailed Design, and Execution phases
  • Experience managing outsourced engineering services and contractors
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and make effective decisions within a fast-paced environment
  • Experience within the energy, oil & gas, industrial, engineering consultancy, or related sectors would be highly advantageous
  • Understanding of Owner's Engineering principles within major projects
  • Degree qualified in Engineering (BEng or equivalent)

Nice to have

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is desirable
  • Formal project management qualifications would be advantageous
