Our client, a leading organisation within the energy sector, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join their team in Basingstoke. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of complex engineering projects, ensuring that project objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and in line with quality and business requirements.
Job Responsibility
Develop and manage the Project Engineering Execution Plan (PEEP) throughout all project phases
Lead the engineering execution of projects, ensuring delivery against scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements
Coordinate design, technical, and HSEQ reviews
Monitor engineering progress, workload forecasting, and project performance
Identify, assess, and manage project risks, ensuring effective mitigation strategies are implemented
Manage project changes and evaluate their impact on delivery
Oversee engineering interfaces and ensure effective communication between all parties
Consolidate project cost estimates and provide regular updates to management and stakeholders
Ensure effective close-out of projects, including technical documentation and final reporting
Lead and motivate multidisciplinary engineering project teams
Collaborate with department heads to define project resource requirements and staffing plans
Manage priorities, workloads, and resource allocation to ensure successful project execution
Promote collaboration across internal functions and external engineering service providers
Support a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
Requirements
Proven experience managing engineering execution within complex project environments
Strong understanding of project management principles, including planning, scheduling, forecasting, cost control, risk management, and change management
Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple locations
Knowledge of project lifecycles, including Feasibility, FEED, Detailed Design, and Execution phases
Experience managing outsourced engineering services and contractors
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to work autonomously and make effective decisions within a fast-paced environment
Experience within the energy, oil & gas, industrial, engineering consultancy, or related sectors would be highly advantageous
Understanding of Owner's Engineering principles within major projects
Degree qualified in Engineering (BEng or equivalent)
Nice to have
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is desirable
Formal project management qualifications would be advantageous
