The Tax Platform team at Airbnb is chartered to empower Airbnb’s growth with a scalable, configurable tax platform that minimizes risk, ensures compliance and delivers a seamless user experience. The team solves some of the most challenging and unique problems faced by our business. We are composed of multiple, highly skilled teams of engineers that own Guest and Host facing product experiences and backend systems that unlock and protect Airbnb’s ability to operate across the vast number of jurisdictions around the world.

Job Responsibility:

  • Building relationships and working rhythms across peers and stakeholders in both India and the US
  • Represent the Tax team in various leadership meetings and similar forums
  • Finding ways to improve collaboration and communication for a strong team culture
  • Strategising and brainstorming opportunities along with Product, Partnerships & other cross-functional leaders and driving effective relevant metrics to measure the success of these initiatives
  • Recruiting the right engineers by improving and adding new initiatives for the overall India site culture
  • Working closely with engineering teams to facilitate alignment on key architectural decisions and trade-offs, supporting effective and scalable solutions
  • Coaching and mentoring the team with empathy to do their best work while growing in their roles & responsibilities
  • Refining team processes and work divisions to enable effective prioritization, planning, and communication of the team’s sprint commitments
  • Closely collaborating with cross-functional partners in Tax Operations, Data Engineering and Product.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering work experience
  • 4+ hands-on technical management experience
  • Experience architecting, building, and maintaining highly available services in a large service-oriented architecture (SOA)
  • Experience leading a team to contribute effectively to large scale tech transformations across multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Expertise proactively managing and communicating dependencies across parallel tracks of work
  • Demonstrable experience creating expectations, coaching, and mentorship plans for ICs
  • Comfortable independently establishing and validating priorities and direction in the absence of Product Management
  • Track record of contributing to Technical Quality practices and roadmaps for the organization
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work well within engineering organization and cross functions.
