Uber is looking for an Engineering Manager II to lead teams within our Mobility Matching & Segmentation organization. You will own the technical strategy and execution for ML-powered systems that determine how marketplace segmentation drives differentiated experiences across products like UberX, Wait & Save, Priority, Comfort, etc. Your work will directly shape the real-time decision-making engine at the heart of Uber's marketplace, impacting millions of trips daily.
Job Responsibility:
Define and execute the technical roadmap for the Marketplace Segmentation
Lead and scale a high-performing team of engineers
Oversee the architecture of highly scalable, reliable, and extensible systems
Drive innovation in ML-powered systems
Own the end-to-end delivery of critical projects
Act as a key bridge between Engineering, Data Science, and Product Management
Ensure the reliability and cost-efficiency of our services
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master's degree or equivalent
5+ years of experience in software engineering
1+ years experience of management in building and leading a software engineering team
Proven track record of leading teams that have successfully built and shipped new products from 0 to 1
Nice to have:
PhD degree in computer science or other relevant fields
8-10+ years of proven experience in software engineering
3+ years of direct people management experience, including growing and mentoring engineers at different levels
Strong background in Machine Learning, Marketplace Dynamics, or Optimization Systems
Deep understanding of technical architecture and the ability to solve complex, ambiguous problems
Experience working cross-functionally with Product Management, Data Science, and Business partners
