Job Description:

Uber is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team within our Platform Infrastructure group. The Platform team’s mission is to build the next generation of Uber’s container orchestration platform on Kubernetes that is secure, reliable, scalable, and highly efficient. At Uber we have a complex infrastructure spanning both on-prem data centers and cloud. It supports a diverse variety of workloads (stateless, batch, streaming, ML/AI, stateful), each different in its characteristics and requirements.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide product and technical leadership, setting team direction and goals by identifying technical priorities and opportunities, managing expectations, and considering tradeoffs
  • Empower delivery by forming actionable plans, allocating responsibilities, and maintaining productivity across engineering teams with well-defined goals and metrics
  • Manage and grow individual team members, attract and recruit new talent responsible for ever-growing technical challenges
  • Collaborate across many areas of Uber, work with other technical, product and operation leaders across the Globe

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of professional Software Development experience building products and platforms
  • 2+ years of experience leading functional areas as a Tech Lead / Engineering Manager.

Nice to have:

  • Background in large-scale backend infrastructure
  • 5+ years of experience building large scale infrastructure systems
  • Strong leadership skills and technical expertise
  • ability to lead a platform team with deep domain knowledge and solve technical challenges through system design and problem-solving
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across different functions and with diverse stakeholders
