Job Description

This is a senior-level Engineering Manager (Hands-On) role combining people leadership with meaningful individual contribution. You will lead a small, agile engineering team while remaining deeply involved in hands-on development. This role is ideal for a true player/coach who enjoys mentoring engineers, shaping technical direction, and writing production code. This role supports the continued growth of a modern, consumer-facing technology platform with real-world business impact.

Job Responsibility

  • Leading day-to-day execution of agile engineering teams
  • Writing and reviewing production-quality code (30–50% hands-on)
  • Guiding system architecture and engineering best practices
  • Partnering with product, design, DevOps, QA, and security teams
  • Driving sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and releases
  • Mentoring and coaching engineers to grow technical and delivery skills
  • Championing scalability, performance, and reliability
  • Leveraging modern tools, including Gen AI, to improve development velocity

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software development experience
  • 2+ years in an engineering leadership, delivery, or management role
  • Strong hands-on coding experience with: PHP (Symfony or Laravel)
  • React / Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • MySQL and/or PostgreSQL
  • Experience leading agile teams and delivering complex software projects
  • Solid understanding of full-stack development, CI/CD, and cloud architectures
  • AWS experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and people leadership skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available)

Nice to have

  • Experience in hospitality, travel, eCommerce, or SaaS environments
  • Experience using Gen AI tools in development workflows
