Job Description:

Lead the Personalization Platform team within Growth Engineering. Build, scale, and maintain Zapier's personalization infrastructure that powers contextual experiences across the entire product. Enable data-driven product experiences, enhance user engagement through personalized recommendations, and build foundation for tailored experiences at scale.

Job Responsibility:

  • Define technical strategy for the Personalization Platform
  • Lead technical execution (system design, architecture, operational excellence)
  • Own development of self-service tools for A/B tests and personalized experiences
  • Partner with Data org to implement recommendation engines and user context APIs
  • Build and maintain high-throughput, low-latency real-time systems
  • Stay on top of personalization and experimentation trends
  • Develop team through one-on-ones and meetings
  • Build rapport and support team through coaching and mentorship
  • Participate in code reviews and spread technical knowledge
  • Maintain customer focus using feedback and data insights

Requirements:

  • 3+ years managing teams focused on personalization, experimentation, or growth platforms
  • Deep technical expertise in modern web technologies and personalization ecosystems (recommendation engines, A/B testing platforms, feature flagging, real-time data pipelines)
  • Hands-on experience with core tech stack: TypeScript, Python, Node.js, GraphQL, Next.js
  • Understanding of personalization strategies, user segmentation, ML model integration, data-driven product development
  • Strong collaborator who builds alignment between Engineering, Data, and Product teams
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and lead through change
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
