Job Description

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Delivery Merchant Launch team in Bucharest. Your team will build and operate the systems that help high-quality merchants discover Bolt and reach first value fast – from optimizing acquisition surfaces and self-signup flows to automating operational readiness and menu publishing. This is a role with clear, measurable impact on merchant acquisition costs and a strong influence on how growth-related product and engineering decisions are scaled and executed across Bolt.

Job Responsibility

  • Organising the team’s work, improving processes and collaboration, and ensuring high quality of deliverables
  • Driving application architecture and technical excellence
  • Collaborating closely with stakeholders across teams to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Holding regular one-to-ones, coaching, and mentoring engineers to support their growth
  • Preparing performance reviews, goal setting, training plans, budget allocation, headcount planning, and actively participating in recruitment
  • Contributing to planning, roadmap discussions, and providing constructive feedback on future initiatives

Requirements

  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable with modern programming languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Scala, or Java
  • 2+ years managing high-performing engineering teams
  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience and a deep understanding of writing readable, testable, maintainable, and performant code
  • Proven ability to get things done, set a clear technical vision, establish effective engineering processes, and make data-driven decisions
