Engineering Manager – Civils\n\nLocation: Trilogy Office, Motherwell\nBusiness Unit: Energy\n\nMorgan Sindall is recruiting an experienced Engineering Manager (Civils) to join our Energy business, based at our Trilogy office in Motherwell, supporting our Energy business unit, with a particular focus on the CMN3 and Harburn projects. This role will provide leadership across civil engineering activities at both pre‑contract and delivery stages, ensuring engineering excellence, compliance and innovation across our infrastructure portfolio.\n\nRole Overview\n\nYou will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of internal and external engineering resources, ensuring civil engineering deliverables are completed safely, on time, to budget and in line with project and client requirements.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLead and manage all civil engineering activities at pre‑contract and project delivery stages\nManage internal and external engineering resources, ensuring effective deployment and performance\nIdentify temporary works and other engineering requirements and allocate appropriate resources in collaboration with operations directors\nProvide a senior point of contact for customers and consulting engineers\nEnsure staff competency, training, records and compliance are fully maintained\nImplement and monitor health, safety, environmental and quality requirements across contracts\nManage high‑level relationships with consulting engineers, including design agreements and design management activities\nSupport pre‑contract activities, including bid reviews, tender input, interviews and presentations\nDrive innovation, continuous improvement, lessons learned and knowledge sharing across the Energy business\nEnsure full compliance with CDM Regulations and full understanding of Client, Principal Contractor and Principal Designer roles and responsibilities.\nSupport mobilisation of new contracts, including HSEQ and engineering governance arrangements\nProvide engineering assurance support to joint ventures and alliances\nCarry out audits and produce reports for quality and environmental compliance\nAct as functional manager for planning resources within the Infrastructure business\nRepresent Morgan Sindall on industry forums as agreed

Job Responsibility

Requirements

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional status (e.g. ICE)
  • Significant senior-level experience delivering civil engineering design and construction in regulated sectors
  • Strong experience within major project tender teams, including price and quality adjudicated bids
  • Proven experience managing design processes in tender and live project environments
  • Experience working in joint ventures, alliances or collaborative delivery models
  • Strong understanding of commercial arrangements, procurement routes and contracts
  • Experience working with ViewPoint and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
  • Strong people leadership with the ability to motivate teams to high standards
  • Excellent organisational, planning and time-management skills
  • Sound knowledge of civil engineering and construction standards
  • Ability to work closely with senior management to set and deliver operational targets
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
