We are looking for an experienced engineering manager to lead our API Experience team. This team is responsible for building out and crafting an exceptional development experience for our API developers. You will be owning the API documentation, SDKs, account experience, and overall development experience that millions of developers use to build on top of OpenAI models – everyone from hobbyist developers to Fortune 500 companies. You will also collaborate closely with research teams to bring the latest cutting-edge models to our API.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and build out a diverse team of high performing full-stack engineers
Build an API product that developers love to use
Set technical direction for building robust and scalable API products for end developers
Collaborate closely with a broad set of stakeholders, including product, design, go-to-market, and other engineering teams
Coach and nurture engineers to accelerate their growth and learning
Requirements:
8+ years of experience in software engineering
5+ years of experience in engineering management
Prior experience building out external facing API products at consumer internet scale
Take pride in building and operating scalable, reliable products and systems
Care deeply about diversity, equity, and inclusion, and have a track record of building inclusive teams
Own problems end-to-end, and are willing to pick up whatever knowledge you're missing to get the job done
Have the ability to move fast in an environment where things are sometimes loosely defined and may have competing priorities or deadlines
