Job Description:

We're hiring an Engineering Manager for a new Acquisition & Monetization product team. This new team will be responsible for building and operating product features and functionality related to: The overall user journey from our marketing site through onboarding and activation; Self-serve payments and subscription lifecycle management via Stripe (plans, trials, upgrades/downgrades, invoicing); Product-led growth and user acquisition initiatives (virality, collaboration, sharing); Implementation of pricing and packaging strategies; Data-driven experimentation to optimize conversion, expansion, and retention. As the Engineering Manager for this new team, your job is to help ensure Tines stays a great place to be an engineer. This role is about supporting your team, helping them be effective, growing our organization, and fostering a healthy team culture. You can work fully remotely from anywhere in Ireland and can make use of our Tines office space in central Dublin to meet up with other members of the Dublin engineering team when you wish.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage a software engineering team of 4-6 engineers
  • Support the growth and development of engineers across all levels of experience through regular feedback, coaching and mentorship
  • Work with colleagues across departments to plan and prioritize projects, helping break them down into manageable tasks and milestones
  • Facilitate useful communication between your team, other Product & Engineering teams, and other departments at Tines
  • Contribute to technical discussions, while preserving autonomy for engineers
  • Help make our engineering processes effective and efficient
  • Work on attracting and recruiting great engineers to our team
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, ambition, and collaboration
  • Maintain technical familiarity through direct work on smaller, lower-priority engineering tasks
  • This new team will be responsible for building and operating product features and functionality related to: The overall user journey from our marketing site through onboarding and activation
  • Self-serve payments and subscription lifecycle management via Stripe (plans, trials, upgrades/downgrades, invoicing)
  • Product-led growth and user acquisition initiatives (virality, collaboration, sharing)
  • Implementation of pricing and packaging strategies
  • Data-driven experimentation to optimize conversion, expansion, and retention

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of software management engineering experience in an engineering management or team lead role, ideally at a product-led growth or SaaS company
  • Experience with integrating with payments processors to build subscription systems for SaaS applications
  • A strong track record as a software engineer
  • Technical experience and context will be key to supporting our engineers and weighing in on technical decisions
  • We view technologies as a means to an end, and stick to simple, common tools - Ruby, Rails, React, TypeScript, Postgres, Redis, Docker and AWS
  • Our main languages are Ruby and TypeScript, but you don’t have to be familiar with those - we value curiosity and an eagerness to learn
  • Your abilities matter, not your education
  • We just need you to show us that you have accumulated the foundational skills and knowledge needed to succeed

Nice to have:

  • Cybersecurity knowledge isn’t required
  • We take application security seriously, but for this role you don’t need any experience in that area
What we offer:
  • Competitive salary
  • Startup equity & extended exercise window
  • Matching retirement plans
  • Home office setup
  • Private healthcare plans
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Extra company holidays
  • Generous parental leave programs
  • Flexibility in how and where you work
  • Phone and home Internet allowance
