Job Description:

HSBC is seeking an experienced professional to join as Sr. Associate Director, Software Engineering Specialist. This role focuses on developing applications such as XSSL to support HSBC’s banking and payment needs. Responsibilities include IT solutions development, management of risk and controls, DevOps delivery, and production support. Candidates must be experienced in Java, DevOps tools, and banking application development.

Job Responsibility:

ITSO ownership of all Risk & Controls issues
Managing XSSL Development Team, including multiple POD teams to delivery business functionalities in DevOps approach
Work as an application analyst/developer to provide application solutions to the business
Work with the business and recommend viable IT solutions to meet these requirements
Analyse business needs and recommend viable IT solutions to meet these requirements
Design, develop and implement IT solutions to meet business needs, according to established standards and best practices
Facilitate communication among key stakeholders
Maintain relationships with key stakeholders and business contacts
Manage activities within project delivery to the business within the agreed timeframes, cost and levels of quality
Conduct and support testing to ensure the quality of all deliverables
Produce documentation on system solutions to ensure their maintainability and smooth implementation
Maintain production stabilities and provide support to production incidents

Requirements:

A university graduate with degree in IT or a related discipline
A minimum of 6 years of IT experience in business system development environment, preferably working on large, complex global projects for investment banking business
Solid experience on automated testing, DevOps tools and CI/CD pipeline setup
Experience in development and support of banking application, application production support management
Hands-on application development experience in Java and Linux
Project management, change management and time management skills
excellent knowledge of project life cycle
A fast learner with effective planning, organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and presentation skills with fluent written and spoken English
Proactive, possess an outgoing personality, self-driven and able to work independently and under pressure
Strong analytical, design and problem-solving skills

Nice to have:

SWIFT massaging/ ISO20022 exposure
Treasury products/systems and back-office process workflows
UI development experience
Microservice architecture
