Job Description

As Engineering Lead for Digital Transformation, you will play a critical role in delivering this transformation agenda. This is a senior, hands-on engineering leadership role focused on integration, automation, and platform enablement rather than customer-facing product features. You will lead technical execution across multiple transformation initiatives, ensuring that new tools, vendors, and internal platforms are integrated cleanly into our core architecture. The role is AWS-centric, with a strong emphasis on APIs, event-driven systems, and scalable integration patterns.

Job Responsibility

  • Own the technical delivery of digital transformation initiatives across Finance, HR, Compliance, Operations, and Commercial
  • Provide hands-on leadership across integration, automation, and platform work, setting clear technical direction and standards
  • Design and oversee API-first and event-driven architectures that enable scalable, loosely coupled systems
  • Ensure all transformation solutions align with core platform principles, security requirements, and regulatory obligations
  • Lead the integration of third-party SaaS tools and vendors into the Equals Railsr ecosystem using robust APIs, messaging, and event streams
  • Drive adoption of event-driven patterns to reduce coupling, improve observability, and accelerate change
  • Own integration standards, including API design, versioning, authentication, error handling, and monitoring
  • Partner with data and platform teams to ensure consistent data ownership, governance, and interoperability across systems
  • Lead and mentor transformation-aligned developers, setting a high bar for quality and delivery
  • Work closely with Product Managers embedded in Digital Transformation teams to translate business problems into robust technical solutions
  • Collaborate with central platform, security, and data teams to ensure alignment and avoid siloed delivery
  • Act as a senior technical partner to stakeholders across the business, helping them understand trade-offs, constraints, and opportunities
  • Ensure transformation delivery reduces operational risk by removing manual processes and strengthening controls
  • Embed observability, logging, and monitoring into all integrations and workflows
  • Continuously improve engineering practices, tooling, and patterns as transformation scales across the organisation

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading engineering delivery for internal platforms, integrations, or digital transformation initiatives
  • Strong background in API design and integration, including RESTful services, authentication, and versioning strategies
  • Experience of Node.JS
  • Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures, serverless, and messaging systems
  • Deep experience working in AWS-centric environments and modern cloud-native architectures
  • Track record of integrating third-party SaaS platforms into regulated or complex environments
  • Strong understanding of non-functional requirements including security, resilience, auditability, and compliance
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills, able to explain technical decisions and trade-offs to non-technical audiences

Nice to have

  • Experience working in fintech, financial services, or another regulated industry
  • Experience supporting finance operations automation, compliance workflows, onboarding, or customer operations platforms
  • Exposure to data platforms and event-driven data integration patterns
  • Familiarity with low-code or workflow automation platforms and their integration challenges/super powers
  • Experience in post-merger system integration or operating model consolidation

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • hybrid working
  • chance to build systems that materially change how the business operates
