The Engineering Lead Analyst is a pivotal senior-level position responsible for spearheading critical engineering initiatives within Citi's technology landscape. This role drives the design, acquisition, and deployment of robust hardware, software, and network infrastructure, working in close coordination with cross-functional Technology teams. A primary focus is to ensure the highest quality standards are met across all existing and planned frameworks, with a significant contribution to the strategic direction of our global email backbone.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as a technology subject matter expert and strategic advisor for internal and external stakeholders, providing direction for all firm-mandated controls, compliance initiatives, and critical projects
Contribute significantly to creating and evolving the technology domain roadmap for enterprise messaging
Ensure seamless integration of new functionalities that meet stringent business goals
Proactively define and drive necessary system enhancements to deploy innovative products and process improvements, recommending product customization for optimal system integration
Lead efforts in identifying problem causality, assessing business impact, and conducting thorough root cause analysis to implement effective, long-term solutions
Collaborate closely with Security and Data Leakage Prevention (DLP) teams to continuously enhance the firm's malware defenses and optimize message delivery performance across the vast global Citi environment
Provide expert resolution for complex delivery issues impacting our users and critical applications, ensuring efficient message flow from our global Exchange environment and growing suite of enterprise applications
Play a key role in managing a high-volume global electronic mail environment, currently handling more than 40 million internet messages daily
Oversee the critical archive flow from the global Exchange environment to the firm's official archives, ensuring the integrity and availability of Citi's books and records
Drive the growth and continuous improvement of the firm's email encryption platform to bolster the protection of sensitive customer data and meet evolving privacy regulations
Advise, mentor, and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence
Positively impact the engineering function by influencing strategic decisions through expert advice, counsel, and facilitating services
Appropriately assess and mitigate risks in all business decisions, demonstrating particular consideration for Citi's reputation and safeguarding its clients and assets
Drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhere to policy, apply sound ethical judgment, and escalate, manage, and report control issues with full transparency
Requirements:
6+ years of relevant experience in an Engineering role, with a proven track record in complex, large-scale enterprise environments
Demonstrated experience working within Financial Services or a similarly regulated, large, complex, and global environment
Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience with Sendmail, including configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
Minimum 3+ years of practical experience with Proofpoint POD, including policy management, incident response, and optimization
Profound understanding of the SMTP Protocol and its intricacies
Proven project management skills with the ability to lead and contribute to multiple initiatives simultaneously
Consistently demonstrates clear, concise, and impactful written and verbal communication skills, tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences
Exceptional analytic and diagnostic skills, coupled with comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities, and reporting to identify and implement best practices
Strong ability to work effectively in a matrix environment, partnering seamlessly with virtual teams across diverse geographical locations
Highly capable of working independently, managing multiple tasks, and taking full ownership of project components or initiatives from inception to completion
Demonstrated ability to thrive under pressure, manage tight deadlines, and adapt quickly to unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
Proven track record of driving operational process change and continuous improvement initiatives
Bachelor’s degree/University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Nice to have:
Experience with other email security platforms, archiving solutions, or messaging platforms (e.g., Microsoft Exchange, O365)
Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to email and data retention (e.g., FINRA, GDPR, SOX)
Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to enhance operational efficiency
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCIE, ITIL)
Experience with cloud-based email security solutions
