The ENGINEERING INTERN role within the organization will assist with water projects from initiation to completion during the extent of their time with the team. The successful candidate will have visibility across many functional groups (engineering, operations, maintenance, etc.) and will continuously support the team to ensure project efficiency, technical accuracy and compliance and assist with process improvement projects.
Job Responsibility:
Executes tasks directly related to functional projects and supports the Hackensack Engineering Team on DSIC delivery projects
Communicates issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility
May assist the senior engineer with Master permit application (collecting and compiling necessary data)
May be asked to assist with Redlines requests, flow test mapping, Engineering library, prepare and deliver insights and recommendations based on analyses
Produces findings and draws conclusions from analyses. Makes oral and written recommendations to management
Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with established policies, standards, and objectives
establish and/or update engineering standards and specifications as needed
Work with senior engineers and project managers to ensure projects meet design specifications and are completed on time and within budget
Perform other duties as required by management
Utilizes Veolia’s Geographic Information System (GIS), HexaGon Work Order Management System, and to support workflow between Veolia, Consultants and Contractors
Comply with all Veolia Company and HSE procedures and policies
Periodic field visits throughout Bergen, Sussex, and Passaic County will be required
Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED is required
Working towards a four-year degree and you have fall 2026 Junior or Senior status in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
Academic background relevant to Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
3.0 Cumulative G.P.A required
Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, listening, presentation and facilitation skills
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships
