Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate – AI Application Development to support innovative AI‑driven initiatives within the Branch Technology AI Solutions team. This team designs and builds modern, user‑centric applications that leverage artificial intelligence, large language models (LLMs), and contemporary engineering practices to enhance branch technology experiences across the organization. As an Engineering Associate, you will work alongside senior engineers, product partners, and cross‑functional teams to develop, test, and support software solutions. You will gain hands‑on experience with full stack development, single‑page application frameworks, RESTful APIs, cloud environments, and foundational AI/LLM capabilities. This role is ideal for candidates with early exposure to software development who are eager to learn, grow, and contribute to impactful AI‑enabled applications. You will also participate in the Career Opportunities in Development and Engineering (CODE) Program — a two‑year development program that runs alongside your full-time experience. CODE is designed for recent grads, coding bootcamp alumni and individuals with hands-on technical experience looking to break into tech. No four‑year degree is required.
Job Responsibility:
Assist in the design, development, testing, and documentation of AI‑enabled applications and single‑page front‑end experiences
Write and enhance frontend components using JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks such as React or Next.js
Support the development of backend services and RESTful APIs using Python or Java
Participate in implementing features that leverage Generative AI or large language model (LLM) APIs, with guidance from senior engineers
Contribute to debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues across development and test environments
Assist in evaluating technical challenges and proposing solutions based on established engineering practices
Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, standups, backlog refinement, and reviews
Follow secure coding, documentation, version control, and SDLC standards
Collaborate with peers and senior engineers to deliver high‑quality, user‑centric features and enhancements
Requirements:
6+ months of Technology Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
6+ months of experience with one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript
Exposure to modern front‑end frameworks, such as React, Next.js, Tailwind, or similar, demonstrated through projects or classwork
Basic understanding of Generative AI or LLM concepts, including API calls, model usage, or prompt‑based interactions
Exposure to at least one cloud platform (GCP, Azure, or OpenShift) through labs, coursework, or self‑guided learning
Experience using AI orchestration or LLM integration frameworks, such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, through coursework, labs, or projects
Understanding of secure coding best practices, demonstrated through training, coursework, or code review feedback
Ability to build and integrate RESTful APIs, demonstrated through at least one project or assignment
Contributions to coding projects, open‑source repos, or AI‑related initiatives through coursework or personal development
Exposure to financial services use cases, business workflows, or regulated‑environment software engineering
Ability to work collaboratively in team‑based or Agile project environments
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, managing email and calendars in Outlook, and building presentations in PowerPoint
Bachelor’s in computer science or related field preferred but not required
Must be able to begin employment by May 13, 2026, in a full‑time capacity
Must be able to meet all expectations of the current hybrid work schedule, including regular in‑office attendance
Actively engage in the two-year CODE Program, including participation in training, mentorship, networking events, and career development activities
