Engineering Apprentice (Maintenance) – Kickstart your career with hands-on engineering Love figuring out how things work? At Lucideon, our scientists solve real world material science problems – including aerospace, construction and pharmaceuticals – and our engineering team play a vital role in keeping those critical processes and analytical equipment running across our UK sites. What you’ll be doing (and learning) As part of the Engineering team, you’ll gain hands-on experience in: Mechanical & electrical fault-finding – learning how to diagnose issues and put them right Planned preventative maintenance (with supervision at first) on business-critical equipment Reactive maintenance support when things unexpectedly go wrong Understanding the building-wide systems and infrastructure that keep equipment operating safely and reliably Developing core engineering skills across: electrical, PLC, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical maintenance Communicating clearly with colleagues so everyone understands what’s being worked on and when Why this apprenticeship is a great start You won’t just be “watching and learning” — you’ll be building confidence through real tasks and real responsibility, with support around you. You’ll learn how to: Work safely and understand how your work impacts others Take ownership of tasks as your skills grow Understand the systems behind a wide variety of specialist equipment Help maximise equipment uptime and availability — a vital part of successful delivery See how engineering supports the wider business and service offering Training & qualification You’ll study for a Level 3 Dual Maintenance Engineering qualification with the Stoke-on-Trent College, starting September 2026, combining academic learning with practical experience: 80% on-site at Lucideon – getting stuck into real projects 20% off-the-job learning – study and independent development including face to face delivery with lectures and workshops Supported by a structured training programme and college partnership Completion over 48 months plus an End Point Assessment (EPA) with an external assessor Qualifications You’ll need: Level 2 Engineering Qualification 5 GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above, including Maths and English Who we’re looking for You don’t need years of experience — we’ll teach you.
