Job Description:

The Product Launch Materials Engineer will play a critical role in supporting new product launches by managing material and information flows within the SAP system. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining Material Master data, ensuring accurate routing, tooling, and bill of materials setup and overseeing capacity planning to align production capabilities with growth opportunities. The role requires strong attention to detail, technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, and proficiency in SAP transactions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Responsible for each new or reactivated Material Master Setup, Determining Reference Set, grade Matrix, Sub coat Information
  • Ensure accurate setup of Material Masters in SAP, including routing, coating details, and certification requirements, Source Material Groups for new product launches
  • Create and validate Bills of Materials and routing steps, link tooling PRTs, and integrate all required manufacturing programs into routers. Determine BoM components
  • Perform calculations for powder weight and sintered volume and add necessary notes for lasering and labeling to support production accuracy. Get insert sintered volume
  • Manage and verify finish, blank, and die drawings, establish templates for manufacturing processes, and maintain priority and due date tracking. List finish, blank, and die drawings
  • Confirm existence of BoMs, routers, control plans, and all required programs (CNC), and ensure die PRT creation before production
  • Manage the Capacity Planning tool to identify links between RCCP, equipment capacity, and growth opportunities, and propose growth flow paths to Sales and Management
  • Facilitate First Production Run, reacting to any gaps in documentation, SAP Master Data and verifying BOM and CT accuracy. Sign off on the First-time-through production for acceptance checklist
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in SAP transactions, technical calculations, and documentation
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of material properties, manufacturing processes, and tooling requirements

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in process engineering, SAP Material Master Setup, and product launch
  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with SAP Material Master and routing setup
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (Coating, CNC Machining, Sintering, Pressing)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with powder metallurgy and tooling processes
  • Understanding of certification requirements and quality control plans
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings
