Engineer, Power System Controls

• Design, develop, and implement high-quality control software for Hyliion’s Karno Power Module, which includes combustion, thermal, pressure, high-voltage and power management systems
• Define and conduct tests to verify software and tune control parameters to meet key performance indicators
• Prepare reports and technical documentation related to system performance, control strategies, and compliance
• Process and analyze data to verify software against engineering specifications, support root cause analysis and for optimizing performance
• Ensure on time delivery with
• Assist product team in defining customer requirements and generate corresponding engineering specifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering, or Computer Science or related field
• 3-5 years of relevant experience
• Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering, or Computer Science or related field
• Knowledge and experience with genset, power plant or hybrid vehicle control systems
• Experience with software testing environments such as MIL, SIL
• Experience with Controller Area Networks (CAN)
• Experience with PLCs or embedded systems
• Knowledge and experience with electrical circuits, electromechanical systems and electrical wiring
• Good understanding of the V-model
• Experience with Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket)
• Controls software development in MATLAB/Simulink
• Classical and modern control disciplines
• Ability to work safely in labs, dynos, etc
• Strong teamwork
• Proven ability in managing multiple projects, priorities, and assignments with accountability
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and prepare technical reports
• Position will require some travel to support testing, evaluate system performance or debug onsite issues

Experience with C/C++ or Python is a plus
