This role is responsible for supporting the mechanical engineering activities within the Snowy 2.0 project related to Heavy Machinery. The role's primary purpose is to assist in designing, analysing, and implementing mechanical systems, ensuring they meet project requirements and industry standards.
Job Responsibility:
Assist the Deputy Managers in designing mechanical components and systems for the project
Collaborate with the engineering team to analyse and modify designs based on project requirements and constraints
Perform calculations and simulations to verify mechanical designs and ensure their feasibility
Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation using CAD software
Support the implementation and installation of mechanical systems on-site
Contribute to project meetings and discussions to provide insights and updates on mechanical design progress
Participate in design reviews and identify potential design improvements
Assist in creating and maintaining engineering documentation, reports, and records
Prepare SOW, Material and Equipment procurement request and follow up with Suppliers and FGJV Global supply chain team
Comply with project safety and quality standards in all mechanical engineering activities
Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on significant equipment failures to prevent recurrence
Utilize the company's CMMS to track asset health, manage work orders, and analyse Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
Review technical bids, manage specialized service providers on-site, and ensure parts procurement meets engineering specifications
Requirements:
Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)
Membership with Engineers Australia is preferred
Valid Manual Driver's License and High-Risk Work Licenses are essential for plant access
White Card
3–5 years of experience in heavy industry (Mining, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, or Manufacturing), within the Mobile Workshop area
Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) and advanced MS Excel for data modelling
Demonstrated experience with rotating equipment (pumps, gearboxes, fans), Heavy machinery and structural steel
