Engineer 2 - Planning & Design

• Design broadband communication systems using various design software packages
• Produce layout designs for coaxial and fiber placement and fiber routing and connectivity
• Verify designs are in adherence to regional hybrid fiber coax (HFC) architecture
• Conduct analysis to determine efficiency, equipment economy, and systems operation simplicity
• Prepare prints, special maps, key maps, graphs, diagrams, and graphic drawings
• Update and maintain system maps, keys, and design files
• Process HFC SMB and small plant extensions
• Generate HFC design package for construction including design DWG or PDF and BOM, splice matrix, and optical BOM/Design
• Plan Coax Networks (brownfield/greenfield, mid-split, relocates, tie points)
• Plan Fiber networks (Metro-E)
• Process HFC and Fiber projects
• Assign and maintain wavelengths and generate Metro-E design package for construction
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance

• Bachelor's Degree
• 2-5 Years of relevant work experience
• Experience with various design software packages
• Knowledge of hybrid fiber coax (HFC) architecture and design specifications
• Ability to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary
