Job Description:

Responsible for the planning and designing of broadband communication systems. Designs systems and collaborates with vendors to determine project specifications. Inspects projects periodically to ensure adherence to project specifications. Prepares and maintains project documentation. Identifies new service areas and assists in resolving customer service complaints. Works with moderate supervision/guidance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design broadband communication systems using various design software packages
  • Produce layout designs for coaxial and fiber placement and fiber routing and connectivity
  • Verify designs adhere to regional hybrid fiber coax (HFC) architecture and design specifications
  • Process HFC span replacements
  • Conduct analysis to determine efficiency, equipment economy, and systems operation simplicity
  • Prepare prints, special maps, key maps, graphs, diagrams, and graphic drawings for use by other departments
  • Update and maintain system maps, keys, and design files
  • Process HFC SMB and small plant extensions
  • Prepare files and assign to business partner in P2
  • Receive files and QC in Spatial
  • Generate HFC design package for construction including design DWG or PDF and BOM, splice matrix, and optical BOM/Design
  • Upload design package to P2 and approve design task
  • Plan Coax Networks (brownfield/greenfield, mid-split, relocates, tie points)
  • Plan Fiber networks (Metro-E)
  • Process HFC and Fiber projects
  • Coordinate with construction and sales as necessary
  • Assign and maintain wavelengths and generate Metro-E design package for construction
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance
  • Work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2-5 Years Relevant Work Experience
  • Experience with design software packages
  • Experience in planning and designing broadband communication systems
  • Experience with coaxial and fiber placement and routing
  • Experience with HFC and Fiber projects
  • Experience generating design packages for construction
