As an Engineer on the Engine Peripherals Engineering team you will be responsible for designing and managing induction, exhaust, thermal management, and/or structural sealing components and systems for new engine programs. Job Responsibility:
Support and lead concept exploration through competitive assessments, concept trade off studies, cross functional reviews, etc.
Identify, generate, and compare solutions while showcasing compromises (fit and finish, cost, mass, schedule, resources, manufacturability, etc.)
Develop and execute FMEAs, DVPs, DFSS tools, facilitate failure analysis and corrective actions
Take ownership and drive cross functional communication and issue resolution (Industrial Design, Manufacturing, Supplier, Technicians, System Testing, Purchasing, Supplier Quality)
Suggest resolutions regarding technical issues
Maintain high level of engineering excellence (creativity, drawings, craftsmanship, usability, functionality, etc.)
Develop component/system test plans, write and execute test requests
Collaborate with CAD designers and test technicians
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Internship experience with engine components and engine systems, including design, development and application of mechanical components manufactured by diverse processes such as casting, stamping, forging, machining and/or molding (plastics)
Knowledge of four-stroke engines, Fuel Systems, Fluid handling, and Engine Performance
Experience in a variety of manufacturing/machining processes
Nice to have:
Experience with marine propulsion systems or boating in general
Aptitude for mechanical designs and system conceptualization
Knowledge of materials selection and manufacturing processes, including injection molding, castings, elastomeric components, etc.
Knowledge of fluid system design, analysis, and optimization (intake/exhaust dynamics and tuning, fuel handling, cooling system performance, etc.)
Knowledge of six sigma tools and application
Experience with use of the FMEA process
Understanding and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Ability to utilize Creo for 3D model evaluation or component analysis
Experience within Teamcenter engineering or similar PLM software/Change Release Process
