The Engagement Specialist is responsible for cultivating relationships with donors, alumni, parents and friends of the university, with the goal of them becoming donors and continuing to give to Ohio State by providing excellent customer service. This is achieved by creating unique engagements through an omnichannel (inbound/outbound phone, email, text and web chat) approach. This position plays an essential role in implementing the engagement and fundraising efforts for The Ohio State University.
Job Responsibility:
Work collaboratively as a member of The Ohio State University Individual Philanthropic Strategy team
Solicit gifts and provide related stewardship in conjunction with The Ohio State University
Understand and implement strategic engagement opportunities through proactive and reactive outreach via calls, email, text, web chat, video and social to alumni, family and friends to connect them back to The Ohio State University
Work closely with the Engagement Center Manager to execute strategy and provide comprehensive support for broad-based fundraising, including annual solicitations and special projects for all fundraising
Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the philanthropic priorities to effectively present a case for support
Take timely and strategic steps in moving prospects through the gift cycle of identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
Assist and/or lead in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fundraising goals and objectives
Make effective use of the university's prospect management database and other institutional resources to ensure appropriate management of donors, prospects, alumni and volunteers in coordination with university objectives
Requirements:
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills including written and verbal
ability to present ideas clearly and concisely
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
Demonstrate capacity to manage relationships with colleagues, Ohio State partners, prospects, alumni and current donors to achieve effective results, including the achievement of specific and measurable goals
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to set clear priorities and manage time well
the ability to work independently and make sound judgments about prospects, project management responsibilities and all other areas of performance without close day-to-day supervision
Exercising discretion at all times and able to keep confidential all data related to The Ohio State University and its constituents
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Business, Sports Management, Marketing, Public Affairs or a related field from an accredited college or university
