We are seeking a technically strong and commercially astute Energy Transition Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support clients across the UK in delivering decarbonisation and energy resilience solutions. This role provides the opportunity to advise on heat network compliance, renewable energy investment, and practical energy transition plans from strategy through to project implementation.
Job Responsibility:
Provide guidance on heat network compliance with 2026 Ofgem regulations and zoning frameworks
Develop practical decarbonisation plans, supporting clients from strategy to project delivery
Advise on investment in solar, renewable energy, and storage solutions to improve energy resilience
Conduct energy modelling and simulation using tools such as PVSyst, SAM, HOMER, and EnergyPlus
Perform financial and commercial analysis including Excel modelling, NPV, LCOE, and scenario assessments
Utilise GIS and data analytics (Python, R) for zoning assessments, network planning, and automation
Prepare business cases, procurement specifications, and risk assessments for energy transition projects
Support project and programme management activities, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery
Engage stakeholders, facilitate workshops, and provide clear technical and commercial recommendations
Contribute to negotiation and decision-making processes to ensure practical and commercially viable solutions
Ensure all outputs comply with relevant regulatory frameworks, including Ofgem heat network regulations and energy market standards
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for clients and senior stakeholders
Support funding applications, feasibility studies, and strategic energy planning initiatives
Requirements:
Relevant degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Energy Management, or related discipline
Strong knowledge of energy systems, including heat networks, solar PV, renewables, and storage
Experience with energy modelling and simulation tools (PVSyst, SAM, HOMER, EnergyPlus)
Financial and commercial modelling expertise, including scenario analysis, NPV, and LCOE
Understanding of regulatory frameworks and energy market mechanisms in the UK
Proficiency in data analytics, scripting (Python, R), and GIS for energy network analysis
Project and programme management experience, including risk management and procurement support
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills
Nice to have:
Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
Renewable Energy Professional (REP)
Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2
LEED/BREEAM (for building-related projects)
Training on heat network regulations and compliance (Ofgem frameworks)
