Job Description

Position Purpose: Under general supervision from the Metering Supervisor or other assigned supervisor, the Energy Monitoring Systems Technician will perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical metering data collection systems.

Job Responsibility

  • Respond to service orders concerning customers, including equipment change-outs, device commissioning, and system troubleshooting
  • Use specific software to commission/program electronic/thermal/water meters, and remote data collection hardware, and complete all relevant paperwork associated with the assignment
  • Coordinate electrician presence onsite and execute project micro-management upon completion-follow up on any new opportunities
  • Communicate with customers, contractors, and co-workers, and respond to inquiries in a timely fashion
  • Perform other duties as required including occasional drawing reviews/updates, tenant surveys, and occasional meter reading
  • Partake in department workflow, stay aware of ongoing projects, and assist when necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • An associate's or Bachelor's Degree in electronics, computer technician, or instrumentation is strongly preferred
  • At least two years of related field work experience or any equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Demonstrates knowledge of programming, testing, troubleshooting, and calibration of electronic and mechanical meters
  • Strong PC skills as well as demonstrated skills in reading sub-meter drawings, diagrams, and wiring layouts
  • Proven proficiency in Visio and AutoCAD
  • Ability to work collaboratively with customers and vendors, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Reliable team player
  • An organized self-starter, able to follow standard procedures, prioritize assignments, and address problems as they arise or seek appropriate help
  • The employee will need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Valid state-issued driver's license
