Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Energy Retail Senior Accounting Consultant to join our team on a contract basis in Dallas, Texas. This role will focus on managing accounting operations for over 500 retail fuel and ground locations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, reconciliation, and inventory management. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in weighted average cost accounting, process documentation, and system integrity while driving continuous improvement across accounting processes. This is a 3+ month contract assignment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage accounting operations for more than 500 retail fuel and ground locations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of site operator payments, delivery records, and sales receipts
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to fuel deliveries, including billing errors and delayed reconciliations, with a focus on weighted average cost adjustments and fluctuating gas prices
  • Address and resolve integration and process issues by pulling reports, analyzing data, and identifying root causes
  • Create detailed process documentation to support compliance, operational efficiency, and ongoing process improvements
  • Collaborate with site operators, corporate supervisors, and internal teams to enhance accountability and streamline operations
  • Analyze and resolve complex accounting issues, providing actionable recommendations to prevent future discrepancies
  • Recommend and implement process improvements based on root cause analysis and best practices in retail fuel accounting
  • Train and support team members in the use of tools and processes to optimize accounting operations
  • Ensure adherence to accounting principles and compliance standards while managing high-volume, multi-site operations

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with SAP Finance modules, including SAP FI and SAP FICO
  • familiarity with SAP Materials Management (MM)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting, data analysis, and reconciliation tasks
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and experience in multi-site operational accounting
  • Proven ability to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies in complex, high-volume environments
  • Demonstrated expertise in documenting accounting and operational processes to support audits and compliance
  • Analytical mindset with curiosity and urgency to identify root causes and implement solutions
  • Prior experience in the oil and gas or energy sector is preferred but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
