Meta’s data centers are the foundation of our rapidly scaling infrastructure. Meta’s Energy Team is seeking a commercially experienced and self‑motivated energy professional to help build and run a wholesale market operations and compliance program that supports Atem Energy, LLC and Meta's data center energy goals. Atem Energy, LLC is a Meta affiliate that is seeking authority to participate in U.S. wholesale electricity markets. This position sits within Meta’s Energy Team and will support Atem’s market operations and compliance while also contributing to Meta’s broader global energy strategy.
Job Responsibility:
Lead all compliance activities associated with wholesale market participation, including Electronic Quarterly Reports (EQR) and other Federal Energy Regulatory Commission filings
Develop and implement compliance tracking and reporting programs in collaboration with Legal partners
Ensure all compliance-related obligations are met, including disclosure protocols for affiliates and upstream entities
Support continued evolution and execution of Meta’s wholesale supply strategy for domestic and potentially international data centers
Stay informed of the technical, market, and regulatory developments in the energy industry and communicate key trends, risks and potential impacts to management
Manage vendor relationships to ensure reporting and manage wholesale market positions
Engage with external power marketers, independent power producers, utilities, and other stakeholders to facilitate transactions and related compliance
Support the contracting and negotiation phase for energy supply agreements, ensuring all MBRA requirements are considered
Develop in-house expertise on wholesale market products and services, including in MISO, SPP, and PJM
Travel domestically (10-25% at times)
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a business, engineering, environmental, or energy related discipline
8+ years experience in facilitating, evaluating, or tracking wholesale capacity and energy transactions and projects
Experience leading compliance with FERC market-related requirements
Experience working with detailed financial models of energy projects and transactions, identifying key risks and sensitivities, and leading all related due diligence efforts (financial, commercial, technical, development)
Experience collaborating across multiple internal functions, including legal, compliance, finance, and accounting
Experience representing business interests to the leadership teams of potential suppliers, utilities, governments, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders
Experience in utility and grid interconnection, capacity accreditation, and wholesale electricity market transaction processes
Proven precise communication skills
Experience synthesizing commercial, regulatory, market, and contractual details to all organizational levels
Experience managing multiple projects and collaborating with internal staff, utility providers, consultants, and external stakeholders
Proficiency in standard document and analytics platforms, including any needed to facilitate compliance or transaction tracking and reporting
Proven track record building and running FERC compliance programs
