Job Description:

Energy Forecasting Specialist position at EDP, a global energy company focused on renewable energies. The role involves generating and validating short-term forecasts for electricity load and surplus generation, maintaining forecasting models, and contributing to operational process improvements.

Job Responsibility:

Generate and validate short-term (day-ahead/intraday) forecasts for electricity load and surplus generation (post self-consumption) across all relevant geographies
Monitor forecast deviations, analyze root causes, and propose cost-benefit improvement measures
Maintain and develop forecasting models to reduce forecast deviations, including recalibration and integration of exogenous variables
Extract, process, and provide relevant information from data systems/sources to support business monitoring and prepare datasets for regulatory reporting
Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes, including automation, standardization, and control enhancements
Actively collaborate with other areas of the organization in the development of shared processes/procedures/methodologies

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or related fields
Between 3 to 8 years of experience in a similar field or analyst function
Advanced knowledge of time series forecasting
Advanced knowledge of Python applied experience in time series forecasting
Proficiency in SQL and Power BI (DAX)
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure)
Familiarity with energy markets/sector
Strong attention to detail and process orientation
Analytical mindset with proven problem-solving capabilities
Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex analyses into clear, actionable insights for top management
