Graduate from an accredited Endoscopic Technology program or Surgical Technology Program
Certification credentialed by Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) or by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
Current BLS Certification

Job Responsibility

The primary responsibility of the Endoscopy Technician is to provide direct assistance to surgeons/physicians during endoscopic procedures
Prepare endoscopy room
set up scopes, monitors, and light sources
Gather supplies and check that equipment is working properly
Positions patient to give best exposure for endoscopic procedure, using stabilization equipment, when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety
Assist physician during procedure
passing equipment, managing suction, irrigation, and specimen collection
Maintain scope cleaning and disinfection if applicable
Follow strict infection control guidelines
Participate in emergency resuscitation and stabilization as needed
