Job Description:

Assist in the nursing care and preparation of G.I. Lab/Endoscopy Center patients. Function as a member of the procedure team in issuing supplies and instruments to Endoscopists. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist in the nursing care and preparation of G.I. Lab/Endoscopy Center patients
  • Function as a member of the procedure team in issuing supplies and instruments to Endoscopists
  • Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures
  • Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
  • Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
  • Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
  • Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
  • Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
  • Assist with patient admission to Admitting and Recovery
  • Work with staff team to gather necessary supplies, equipment and instruments
  • Assist in maintenance and care of specimens
  • prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Decontaminate all equipment, instruments, and supplies
  • Perform restocking duties as necessary
  • Function as a service coordinator with RN for special procedure preparations
  • Assist in preparing patient and procedure area
  • prepare and maintain endoscopy video cart, light source, supplies, endoscope, instillation pump and lab containers
  • Document all patient care activity, provider and instrument utilization in electronic medical record or hard copy as appropriate
  • complete all billing sheets
  • Adhere to and promote the core expectations of the Patient Centered Medical Home or Patient Centered Specialty Practice as applicable
  • Transport patients to and from requesting areas
  • ensure adherence to all safety measures

Requirements:

  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • 6 months of related experience
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
