Job Description:

Provides Basic Life Support including medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization of the critically ill and injured; responds to emergency rescue situations involving potential loss of life or bodily injury; maintains control, manages and directs patient care at the scene of a pre-hospital emergency; provides training and instruction to lesser trained personnel; performs other duties as required.

Job Responsibility:

Provides Basic Life Support including medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization
Responds to emergency rescue situations
Maintains control, manages and directs patient care at the scene
Provides training and instruction to lesser trained personnel
Provides and directs fast, efficient Basic Life Support
Recognizes and understands a medical emergency
Performs critical physical examinations
Understands pharmacological treatment
Understands and anticipates potentially life-threatening presentations
Deals with medical and emotional needs of victims
Responsible for managing and directing all first responders
Responsible for quality patient-care
Files standardized reports of patient information
Maintains effective communication with physician
Follows standard written protocols
Transports the ill and injured
Operates emergency vehicles in a safe manner
Cleans and maintains equipment
Properly completes patient statistics and medical information forms
Performs technical rescues
Follows standard operating policies and procedures
Cleans and maintains vehicles
Cleans and maintains living quarters
Maintains records
Carries or helps carry injured persons
Performs physical assessment of injured party

Requirements:

EMR Licensure
CPR for the Health Care Provider
Good knowledge of the street systems, addresses and physical layout of the area
Good knowledge of rescue equipment and emergency medical equipment used in Basic Life Support
Good ability to perform technical medical skills with a high degree of accuracy
Good ability to understand and effectively deal with emotional and medical needs of victims
Good ability to maintain a professional and objective approach
Good ability to learn new concepts in rescue and medical skills
Good ability to perform limited mechanical work involved in equipment use and maintenance
Good ability to direct the work of and teach other personnel
Good ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Good ability to maintain a professional attitude when representing the Company
Good ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Good ability to drive and operate emergency ambulance units
Good ability to author reports with narrative and numeric information
Must attend sufficient continuing education classes to maintain annual certification
