Job Description

We are seeking a pragmatic and commercially minded Employment Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer with litigaiton rights or working towards them to join our Home LEI team. The successful candidate will provide legal advice on employment law issues to internal stakeholders as well as directly to corporate clients and policyholders, particularly those covered under legal expenses or employment related products.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage any employment law cases /disputes upon which the firm may be instructed
  • Manage and handle any internal employment disputes – litigated and non-litigated – that may arise
  • Participate in and provide support to an employment law legal helpline, providing advice and guidance to clients as and when required
  • To ensure understanding and compliance with internal SLAs, policies and procedures
  • To review employment policies/ practices across the firm, implementing any changes as and when needed
  • To provide full supervisory support and guidance on technical issues involving matters of employment law
  • To ensure any IT developments are appropriately implemented
  • To provide employment law training across the firm as and when needed
  • Ensure that an excellent level of customer service is provided and that clients’ expectations are proactively managed and any employment law cases are progressed
  • To highlight any potential risks to senior management
  • To provide review and analyse any employment law MI and provide reports as and when necessary
  • Identify and provide training needs across the firm
  • Keep up to date with all industry changes including case law, legislation and other matters of relevance and provide advice and guidance
  • Liaise with Senior Management and HR regarding any staff issues
  • May be required to act as an authorised person if requested.

Requirements

  • A Solicitor or CILEx Lawyer with litigation rights / working toward obtaining with employment law experience
  • Ability to compile and analyse data and act according to the results
  • Commercially minded, and able to see opportunities to optimise outcomes in cases, both for the client and the firm
  • Competent working with a case management system and good knowledge of MS Office
  • High standard of quality of work, organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience of presenting data to an audience in a straightforward way
  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead by example. Confidence to challenge accepted working practices and offer solutions
  • Maintain a positive attitude, be self-motivated and use your own initiative in problem-solving
  • Resilient - able to deal with a fast-paced, changing environment whilst still achieving objectives, and motivating team to do so
  • Takes opportunities to develop and stretch themselves and their team, whilst seeking ways to add value to the firm.
