Hecate Strait Employment Development Society (HSEDS) is a non-profit organization governed by a board of directors with a mandate to provide employment programming and training to enhance the opportunities of the residents of the North Coast, Haida Gwaii and Bella Bella. HSEDS provides resources for jobseekers, newcomers, employers, and new entrepreneurs. This position could be a great fit for you! As a HSEDS Employment Advisor you will work with local people to assist them to find work, change careers, start a business, or take training. You will motivate those you work with to achieve long-term career success. Job Responsibility:
Long term employment and training planning with individuals seeking employment
Person to person interviews to identify the needs of clients, and collaborate with them to create a realistic and achievable employment action plan
Support and refer your clients to access relevant resources and community services
Maintain an expert level of knowledge about the local job market
Assist your clients with one-to-one coaching on resumes, job search techniques, labour market information, career planning, assessment tools, workshops, and other resources
Determine eligibility for various financial supports, training, and employment services
Maintain regular contact to support, motivate, learn your clients progress, and update their employment action plans
Provide job sustainment services to support your clients to achieve long-term success
Deliver workshops and sessions for client groups
Stay up to date with program policy and processes
Complete reports such as monthly clients Success Stories, measures of success, and service timelines
Ensure that all required documentation is in place at all stages of service to your clients
Work collaboratively on a team that has members in Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii
Participate in organization initiatives, events, and special projects
Act as a champion of the program, promoting our services throughout community and networking events
Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary certificate in a human service, or related field is preferred
Minimum 2 years’ experience providing career counseling, coaching, training, or other related professional experience
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, databases, and internet
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
Up to date with the latest job search, career exploration/labour market practices
Passion for helping job seekers achieve their goals
Current satisfactory Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment.
