Job Description

The Mgr, Employee Relations, oversees complex employee relations matters and provides direct leadership to assigned ER Specialists. In addition to managing a caseload, the Manager ensures consistency in case handling, supports operational priorities, and contributes to process improvements and team engagement. This position reports to the Director, Human Resources.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide direct leadership and performance coaching to assigned ER Specialists
  • Monitor individual accountability, quality of case work, and documentation standards
  • Mentor ER Specialists in building ER expertise
  • Lead ER team meetings in partnership with the HR Director
  • Recommend development goals and identify training or coaching opportunities
  • Partner with managers to address workplace behavior, performance issues, and policy violations
  • Review and approve corrective action documentation
  • Educate managers on legal compliance, effective coaching practices, and consistent application of company policies
  • Lead internal investigations into policy violations, harassment allegations, and other workplace concerns
  • Prepare detailed investigation reports with clear findings and recommendations
  • Provide guidance and support to ER Specialists on investigative approach, risk assessment, and handling sensitive cases
  • Manage a caseload of complex employee relations cases
  • Ensure timely, thorough, and accurate documentation in the case management system
  • Leverage ER data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the case management system
  • Lead initiatives to improve ER processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and enhance overall team effectiveness
  • Collaborate with the HR Director to standardize workflows and reinforce consistent ER practices
  • Contribute to cross-functional HR projects and help shape organizational strategies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Employee Relations or related HR roles, with expertise in handling complex cases, internal investigations, and performance management
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulatory compliance
  • Advanced skills in case management systems, data analysis, and reporting
