Job Description

This is a 12 month FTC covering maternity leave. You'll help sustain a culture of line management ownership, facilitating a pragmatic, best practice and human approach to ER. You'll be responsible for driving and supporting the timely conclusion of both low and high complexity ER matters. You'll be part of a supportive central ER team, working together on a wide range of cases, from day-to-day matters to more complex situations.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead a variety of ER cases including disciplinaries, grievances, appeals, whistleblowing, serious incidents, absence and performance management, and post-employment complaints
  • Manage complex matters such as ACAS and Employment Tribunal claims
  • Coach and support managers to build confidence in handling people issues
  • Guide People Services team on lower-level ER activity
  • Keep records and reports up to date
  • Spot trends and share insights to improve colleague support
  • Contribute to wider HR projects, policy development and training programmes
  • Contribute to initiatives driving commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion

Requirements

  • Proven experience handling ACAS processes and employment tribunal claims
  • Experience working directly with solicitors
  • Experience applying employment legislation such as the Employment Rights Act and Equality Act in practice
  • Confidence making autonomous decisions on sensitive matters
  • Ability to provide pragmatic, commercially-minded advice
  • Ability to constructively challenge stakeholders
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong written communication skills

  • Take ownership for supporting line managers with basic Disciplinary and Grievance cases from start to end, escalating to People Partner(s) where appropriate

  • Act as a notetaker for complex Disciplinary/Grievance investigations alongside People Partners
  • Advise line managers to effectively manage probationary reviews across the business
