The Emergency Triage Coordinator serves as a key member of the Emergency Service Team to provide the smooth coordination and delivery of crisis services. The Emergency Triage Coordinator is the first point of contact for all telephonic information flow and crisis referral requests from clients, families, and community providers on a 24/7/365 basis. Triage screens and assigns cases to Master’s Level Clinicians, Family Partners and Peers as determined by risk and safety, immediacy of need, location, and according to insurance requirements. This individual will work in conjunction with the ESP management team to ensure that the team is providing the highest quality of care to persons served and in compliance with our quality initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Triage phone calls and provide support and counseling to clients, families, and community referrals in need of ESP assistance and/or evaluations
Assist clinicians in performing bed searches for clients awaiting placement for a higher level of care
Ability to navigate medical record system (Avatar) for each referral as a standard practice (Updating/adding clients, scanning of paper documents, adding Alerts, Service Addendums, and Final Dispositions
Provide information and referrals to phone contacts
Gather appropriate risk information and direct clients, families, and community members in accessing and utilizing supports
Consult with Director or Assistant Director regarding high risk cases and conflict resolution when deemed necessary
Assist in provision of follow-up treatment including the scheduling of follow-up emergency services appointments and completion of paperwork related to triage activity
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or related field, required
Minimum of one year experience in a mental health setting working in a crisis intervention setting
Has working knowledge of the systems involved with ESP services
Ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with outside agencies including hospitals, police, schools and insurance providers
Skills required to maintain professional and therapeutic communication while working with agitated or distressed clients
Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations
Ability to forge mutually beneficial relationships with people served while maintaining strong boundaries/ethics
