This position is an unlicensed multi-skilled worker who supports patient care by performing specific tasks as delegated by a licensed provider. The ability to work in a team environment and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a timely manner are required. Care provided by the Emergency Support Tech (EST) is supervised by a Registered Nurse. Phlebotomy is provided by the EST under the supervision of the Department of Laboratory.

Requirements:
High School Diploma/G.E.D. (required)
Program Graduation from a patient care program (i.e. MA, CNA, EMT) (required) Or One semester of an RN or LVN program (required) Or Equivalent Experience Two years in a similar role in lieu of patient care program or nursing program requirement (required)
Program EMT I course (preferred)
BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
CPT-I - Certified Phlebotomy Technician I - CDPH - California Department of Public Health (required) Or CPT-II - Certified Phlebotomy Technician II - CDPH - California Department of Public Health (required)
Minimum six (6) months Pre-hospital or emergency care, and phlebotomy experience (preferred)
Medical terminology preferred
Unless already in possession of a CPT-I or CPT-II certification, must complete the 120-hour Valley Children's Hospital Phlebotomy Training program within three (3) months of their hire or transfer into position
Must pass the national phlebotomy test and apply for their state phlebotomy certificate within six (6) months of hire or transfer
