Job Description:

The Emergency Services Dispatcher is responsible for receiving all emergency services and Mobile Integrated Health phone calls and directing them appropriately as well as assigning ambulance dispatch requests and coordinating critical care transport.

Job Responsibility:

  • Receives All Emergency Services and Mobile integrated Health calls and directs them appropriately
  • Receives and assigns ambulance dispatch requests from various South Shore Hospital nursing floors and outpatient satellites to appropriate ambulance service
  • Ensures efficient response to ambulance requests
  • Responsible for safe transport of patients to their correct destination, and appropriate documentation of services
  • Facilitates and coordinates Critical Care Transportation health system wide
  • Receives request from neighboring communities/dispatch centers for mutual aid requests
  • Maintains accurate records of all Ambulance traffic within the hospital
  • Utilizes Cisco phone system and Avtec radio consoles
  • Maximizes utilization of South Shore Hospital Paramedic/Ambulances Services
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts O.E.M.S. statewide ALS/BLS and ALS inter-facility transfer treatment protocols
  • Manage EMS call entry in both CAD (Rescue Net) and Electronic Medical Record (EPIC)
  • Answering Incoming patient expects and entry into EPIC from MD offices and Urgent Cares

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Previous hospital telecommunications experience and Emergency Medical Services experience preferred
  • Basic computer literacy-MS Word, Excel, EPIC, and GPS locator software preferred
  • Geographical knowledge of surrounding area preferred
  • Knowledge of Emergency Medical Dispatch and Ambulance Communications preferred
