Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across three campuses in the north-east of Melbourne and statewide. An opportunity exists for Emergency Medicine Registrars to join our Emergency Department in February 2027 with full time and part time positions available.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assess and manage patients according to their level of experience
  • Develop and implement an understanding of the needs and processes of ED resource management appropriate to their level of experience, including bed access, bypass avoidance strategies and interdepartmental liaison
  • Supervise and educate junior staff in patient assessment and management where appropriate
  • At times be called to treat patients in the Mercy Hospital in emergency situations where the condition of the patient falls outside the clinical skills of Mercy

Requirements:

  • Current medical practitioner registered or eligible for medical registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Trainee with ACEM
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Strong commitment to high quality patient care
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal), clinical skills, judgement and expertise, teamwork, time management and problem-solving skills in a clinical setting
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
