Job Description

Emergency Medicine opportunity in Texas starting ASAP and is ongoing at least a year, with no call. Must be ABEM, ABFM or ABIM with ED experience accepted; NON-ABEM accepted for FSEDs.

Job Responsibility

  • No call
  • Shifts: 6a-6p and 6p-6a
  • weekends and nights included
  • Patient volumes (avg/day): Rockport 45
  • Portland 60
  • Northwest 60
  • Doctors Regional 80
  • Admissions: ~10% at FSEDs (Portland, Rockport)
  • ~20% at Doctors Regional
  • High acuity at all sites
  • Level IV trauma at Doctors Regional and Northwest
  • Portland and Rockport are not trauma centers
  • Procedures required: Intubations, central lines, bedside ultrasound, OB deliveries, dislocation reductions, chest tubes, trauma management, laceration repair
  • manage STEMI and strokes
  • Consults: Yes, multiple per day

Requirements

  • Must be ABEM, ABFM or ABIM with ED experience accepted
  • NON-ABEM accepted for FSEDs
  • ≥2 years ED experience to work in FSEDs, or Family Medicine with EM fellowship

  • Perform medical evaluations and formulate a differential diagnosis and treatment plan for urgent and emergent care within the scope of emergency medicine, as requested
  • Perform medical procedures that include obtaining IV access (including administration of fluids and medications), splinting, suturing, phlebotomy, performing POC testing, and performing EKGs
  • Formulate a differential diagnosis and treatment plan to occur in the patient’s home or other setting outside of a medical clinic setting for urgent and emergent care within the scope of emergency medicine
  • Triage incoming patients needs, access to their concerns and determine the right course of action, in center, virtual or at home care
  • Perform video Telemedicine consults when appropriate
  • Work closely with a team of Physicians, nurses, and technicians to discuss your assessment
  • Assess and treat Covid-related cases which includes obtaining clinical samples to test for the virus, performing point of care testing , obtaining blood for antibody blood tests, providing general symptom management and recommendations
  • Document clinical evaluation and treatment in the electronic health record, AthenaHealth
  • Work closely with the Medical Director and other clinical team members to ensure all policies are adhered to and that you deliver quality care in an innovative setting
  • Coordinate additional care with our After Care, and house calls teams or with one of our Medical Partners
