UNC Health Blue Ridge – Valdese, a free-standing ED located in Burke County, provides a full-service, 24-hour emergency department with advanced diagnostic imaging and laboratory services, providing medical services to residents of Burke County and the surrounding communities. Annual Patient Volume: 20,000; ED Beds: 12; Admission Rate: 8%; Documentation: EPIC; 24/7 Respiratory Therapy; Physician Daily Coverage: 24 hours; APC Daily Coverage: 10 hrs Wed-Sun | 8 hrs Mon-Tues

  • Perform medical evaluations and formulate a differential diagnosis and treatment plan for urgent and emergent care within the scope of emergency medicine, as requested
  • Perform medical procedures that include obtaining IV access (including administration of fluids and medications), splinting, suturing, phlebotomy, performing POC testing, and performing EKGs
  • Formulate a differential diagnosis and treatment plan to occur in the patient’s home or other setting outside of a medical clinic setting for urgent and emergent care within the scope of emergency medicine
  • Triage incoming patients needs, access to their concerns and determine the right course of action, in center, virtual or at home care
  • Perform video Telemedicine consults when appropriate
  • Work closely with a team of Physicians, nurses, and technicians to discuss your assessment
  • Assess and treat Covid-related cases which includes obtaining clinical samples to test for the virus, performing point of care testing , obtaining blood for antibody blood tests, providing general symptom management and recommendations
  • Document clinical evaluation and treatment in the electronic health record, AthenaHealth
  • Work closely with the Medical Director and other clinical team members to ensure all policies are adhered to and that you deliver quality care in an innovative setting
  • Coordinate additional care with our After Care, and house calls teams or with one of our Medical Partners
